Although Property tax reforms are in the offing the Cuttack Municipal Corporation is now collecting holding tax from the tax payers.

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation has assigned 51, 639(Fifty One Thousand Six Hundred Thirty Nine) holding within the city area. Collection of holding tax is Rs.2,60,96,160.60 collected during 2010-11 against the demand of Rs.5,63,46,817.00 . There is tremendous potential for increasing the number of holding as well as augmenting holding tax collection. Cuttack Municipal Corporation is zeroing in on there areas at present through various programmes like Door to Door collection, awareness campaign for payment of tax, assessment of hitherto unassessed holding and reassessment of under assessed holding through Special Squads and Camps etc. for enhancement of collection as well as detection of holdings.

As a result of daily monitoring, the collection of holding tax has shown some improvement, but that is very negligible.

For the commuters and public at large 16 parking places are in operation in Municipal Area.Initiative is being taken to create 23 more parking places in consultation with Commissionerate Police. The existing parking are auctioned annually and proceed earned from the same adds to the coffers of Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

License fee is one of the most important source of revenue of Cuttack Municipal Corporation license fee is collected from trade,advertisement,temporary shed,market,mobile tower, right way etc.An amount of Rs.5,35,00,239.00 was the total revenue collected out of licencing in the year 2010-11.

Cuttack Municipal Corporation has been paying due emphasis on rehabilitation of road side hawkers and small retailers in the large interest of general public.For the purpose 20(twenty) different sites have been identified in the city through a joint verification by Cuttack Municipal Corporation and commissionerate police. It has been decided to establish vending zones in a phased manner in the first six places which have been selected namely.

during the current year, street lighting is being extended to cover the remote wards which are later addtion to cuttack Municipal corporation area at an ectimated expenditure of Rs.14,41456.00. As a part of beautification drive under PPP mode ornamental light post have been erected along the road leading to Metaji Subash Chandra Bose Museum. There are also plan to light up the entire stretch of road to Khan nagar to purighat and from Gadagadia ghata to Deer park and sahid bhawan campus with similar decorative light posts to add an antique touch to the historic city of Cuttack. In an ecofriendly move, Cuttack Municipal corporation plan to replace the sodium vapor streetlights with energy saving mental halide lights with funds place by 13th Finance Commission.
