| A Slum Free City: |
Cuttack is a city with 257 nos of identified slums. The C.M.C has a vision to make the City Slum free within a period of Five years by implementing various schemes of Govt. of India and state Govt. In the first phase, assistance has been received under IHSDP Scheme for two slums and extensive Socio Economic Survey is in Progress for prepration of DPR to avail funds under Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana. The CMC have plant to dovetail funds from various sources to make the city slum free in a time bound manner. |

| A clean City: |
Cleanliness and sanitation has always been a challenge for CMC because the peculiar geography and growing population of Cuttack. An efficient sanitation system calls for widespread reforms in the cleaning and conservancy activities ad Solid Waste Management system including collection and disposal of wastes. CMC has taken up the challenge and total overhauling of the sanitation and SWM system by introducing mechanized sweeping, door to door collection of domestic wastes and scientific disposal of garbage. For the 1st time in the state all these activities have been integrated under a single window in door to implement the recommendations of MSW Handling and Management Rule’ 2000 in the city. |

Cuttack is the first city in the State where a sustained drove and an intensive campaign has been launched to contain the use of Polythene by the help of NGOs and Voluntary organizations. The campaign has been captioned as “SAY NO TO POLYTHENE” |

| Augmentation of revenue and Generation of more income: |
With new projects on hand, augmentation of revenue and generation of more income occupies the foremost position in the priority list of CMC. Licence fee and Holding tax being the main sources of revenue for the Corporation, radical reforms in the field of hoardings in the city and for assessing new holdings in the city is under progress to have an increase in the annual income of the Corporation. |

| E-governance: |
In keeping with the changing technological scenario and norms of good governance, CMC is committed to connecting with the citizens and for delivering service at every doorstep by means of the e-Municipality project. Services like issue of Birth and Death Certificates, citizen grievance redressal etc have already been rolled out under this scheme. Efforts will be on to disseminate as much information possible to the average citizens through the web portal of CMC and to provide better services to citizens in an expeditious and transparent manner. An effective E-governance system is one of the visions of CMC. |

| Sustained All-round development: |
| Sustained development of the city through the development of roads, drainage system and water bodies is another area of concern for CMC. Funds of the Corporation as well as funds of State Govt. as well as Govt. of India are being utilized for construction/renovation of roads in the city. Further, DPRs are under preparation for availing more funds under difference schemes. Major water bodies within the city are also to be taken up for renovation and preservation with funds allotted by Govt. of Orissa and Govt. of India in FGUIDSMT. |

| Implementation of JICA: |
For a city constantly affected by a poor drainage and sewerage system, the JICA project (Japan International Scheme Coordination Agency) spells hope for the citizens of Cuttack. The city will not only get one of the most advanced drainage and sewerage systems but improved sanitary condition in the city and an improvement of water quality of the surrounding rivers. The project is expected to be completed by 2014. |

| Development of Tourism Potential of Cuttack City: |
The city has some places with tourism potential like Barabati Fort, Netaji Birth Place, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial at Telenga Pentha, Swaraj Ashram and River Mahanadi in particular to attract more number of tourists into the city. CMC is committed for the development of the city to a hot tourism destination by utilizing funds of Govt. of India, state Govt. and another sources including development through PPP mode . In the meantime the development of Barabati Fort is in progress by utilizing funds received under UIDSSMT. Some other projects are also being taken up by CMC with the assistance of Tourism Department, State Govt. as well as Govt. of India. |

The efforts of the corporation is to make the city beautiful with some river front development which will add to the Tourism potential of the City. |

| City Beautification: |
The Millennium City has a lot prospects for beautification which has been seriously taken into consideration by CMC. A full fledged effort of the beautification of the river front and certain important locations of the city will be made by CMC. Tourism spots and the major roads of the city along with some public amenities has also been planed to be created by the CMC for this purpose. This will be done by availing funds from various sources along with some development in PPP mode. There is also a proposal for construction of an Art Gallery for development and preservation of art and for encouragement of local oriya artists. Some other projects like development of Modern parking Complexes within the city are also in the pipeline and are likely to be completed within 2 years. |

| Fostering the Spirit Cooperation: |
CMC may have many dreams but they will remain unrealized until and unless the elected representatives and the officials of the Corporation work together in a collective manner with a commitment for the progress and development of the city. It is needless to say that the cooperation and encouragement of the citizens is also vital to the successful realization of the vision of CMC. |
